This training plan is the ideal build for advanced to intermediate riders to prepare for the Baja Bike Race from Tecate to Ensenada. The plan ends on the weekend of the race and the main goal is to hit a late season peak for the race and then to transition into the offseason. The plan is ideal for those working full time during the week and with some time on the weekend. Best case for using this plan is having a good base fitness, some experience with training plans and a power meter or at least a heart rate monitor. Midweek will mostly revolve around specific intensity, first starting out with a threshold build and later adding higher intensity to top off fitness for the race. The format will be two on weeks, followed by a rest week, then three on weeks of building followed by another rest week, three more weeks of building fitness with the last week being a hard fatigue week. The next week will be a rest week to recover from the hard work, followed by a taper into the race weekend.
